PURPOSE:To improve a specified chlorinated ethylene - propylene copolymer in vulcanizability, strengths and heat resistance, by blending a thiourea compound, a mercaptotriazine compound, sulfur (donor) and a metal compound. CONSTITUTION:An ethylene-propylene copolymer having a propylene content of 15-40wt% and a melt flow index of 0.01-5g/10min is chlorinated to give a chlorinated ethylene-propylene copolymer having a chlorine content of 20-45wt% and a Mooney viscosity of 10-150. 100pts.wt. resultant copolymer is blended with 1-10pts.wt. a thiourea compound of formula I (wherein R and R' are each an 18C or lower hydrocarbon group), 0.01-2pts.wt. mercaptotriazine compound of formula II (where R is mercapto or amino), 1-10pts.wt. sulfur (donor) (e.g. tetramethylthiuram disulfide) and 1-15pts.wt. metal oxide (e.g., MgO) as an acid acceptor. |
