PURPOSE:To easily specify a part to be recognized and a part not to be recognized by specifying the part to be recognized and the part whose input image is to be outputted as it is by using different colors at the time of input. CONSTITUTION:When a color is specified on a keyboard 6, a keyboard control part 5 stores the specified color in the storage part 7A of a recognition decision part 7. A scanner 2 reads in an input pattern and information on the color of the read pattern is sent to the recognition decision part 7A to compare the color with the color stored previously as a specified color, thereby sending the input pattern as a result as it is to a CPU when they have the same color. If the colors are different, information on the pattern is sent to a recognition part 3. The recognition result of the recognition part 3 is sent to the CPU.
