PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition which is easy to synthesize and excellent in storage stability curability and capable of forming a film with high performance, by copolymerizing a fatty acid-modified acrylic monomer, a specified macromonomer, an unsaturated carboxylic acid and, if necessary, other unsaturated monomer. CONSTITUTION:The title composition is an aqueous coating composition containing an aqueous solution or dispersion of a copolymer consisting of 5-95pts.wt. fatty acid-modified (meth)acrylic monomer (A), 0.5-93pts.wt. macromonomer (B) having a vinyl-polymerizable functional group selected from among (meth)acryloyloxy, allyloxy and aromatic vinyl groups at one end, 0.5-20 pts.wt. ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid (C) and 0-95pts.wt. unsaturated monomer (D) other than the above-mentioned ingredients. This composition is easy to synthesize and excellent in storage stability. Especially, a film obtained by copolymerization with the ingredient (B) is high in initial curability and excellent in blocking resistance and scuff resistance. Furthermore, coating compositions of diverse characteristics can be obtained by incorporating with the ingredient (D) which is properly selected in a wide range.
