PURPOSE:To decrease the amt. of the spatters to be generated by incorporating metal powder at specific % or above into a flux, controlling the content of the iron powder in the metal powder to prescribed % and limiting the content of C and FeO in the iron powder to a prescribed ratio. CONSTITUTION:The metal powder essentially consisting of the iron powder is incorporated at >=90% by weight into the flux of the composite wire and the content of the iron powder in the metal powder is limited to 41-87% by the weight of the flux. The contents of the C and FeO in the iron powder are further controlled respectively to <=0.02% and <=1.50%. An arc stabilizes as the content of the iron powder in the metal powder is adequate. Since the contents of C and FeO in the iron powder are suppressed, the vigorous oxidation reaction of the molten drops at the wire end is suppressed. The arc is thereby stabilized and the amt. of the spatters to be generated is reduced.
