PURPOSE:To correctly feed a work without damaging the surface by supporting by a carriage the clamping face of either one part of a pair of the upper and lower work clamping means of the carriage by making it freely movable in the spherical face direction centering around the center of a clamp. CONSTITUTION:The fitting to a holder 28 of an upper clamp plate 26U supports a freely rotatable bearing block 104 via a radial bearing 102 and thrust bearing 103 inside the recessed place 101 formed at the front end of the holder 28 vertically driven for a carriage. A spherical cradle 104a is formed on the lower face of the bearing block 104, the spherical surface 26Ua of the upper part of a clamp plate 26U is abutted freely slidably to the cradle 104a and the lower part spherical part 106 of a supporting shaft 106 is abutted freely slidably to the spherical surface 26Ub formed at the inner part of a lower clamp 26U as well. The spherical cradle 104a, spherical surface 26Ua, the spherical surface of the spherical part 106a and spherical surface 26Ub share the same center 108 and the bearing block 104 and supporting shaft 106 are integrally rotated by a key 107.
