PURPOSE:To ensure more efficient work by positioning a second tray at a place not hindering a sheet passage when a sheet is discharged on a first tray, and locating the second tray above the first tray when the sheet is being processed on the first tray. CONSTITUTION:When a sheet is discharged on a first tray 10, a second tray 11 is so positioned as not to hinder the passage of the sheet toward the first tray 10. Also, a series of sheets has been completely discharged on the first tray 10, the second tray 11 shifts and comes to be located approximately just above the first tray 10. And when sheet processing or sheet width adjustment, matching, binding and drop storage are taking place on the first tray 10, a copied sheet in the second cycle is discharged on the second tray 11 and the copying process of the next cycle can start without waiting for sheet processing time. According to the aforesaid constitution, efficient work can be done without reducing the throughput of a copying system.
