PURPOSE:To reduce the voltage applied to a switching element by charging capacitors by the same input voltage of potentials of the different directions in loop circuits when switching elements are OFF. CONSTITUTION:A power source is composed of capacitors 13-16 connected in series, coils 17-20, 22, and switching elements (thyristors, etc.) 21, 23 for forming a resonator together with both ends of the capacitors 14, 16 and the coils 20, 22. A capacitor 24 is connected between one end of the capacitor 13 and one end of the capacitor 16, and a gap 25 for discharging is connected to both the ends of the capacitor 24. Thus, the potentials of the capacitors 14, 16 of the resonator are inverted by the OFF, ON of the elements 21, 23, formed in the same potential direction to obtain an output voltage multiplied by N from the input voltage.
