PURPOSE:To stably operate a power converter and to reduce the size of the converter by adding an auxiliary diode and a regenerative auxiliary power source, and operating it by the vibration of the inductance and the capacitance of the circuit. CONSTITUTION:A power converter is composed of a semiconductor switch 1 in which a feedback diode 1b is connected in anti-parallel with a GTO thyristor 1a, a DC power source 2, and a snubber circuit of a series connection circuit of a diode 12 and a capacitor 11 connected in parallel with the switch 1. In this case, the connecting point of the diode 12 and the capacitor 11 of the snubber circuit is connected through an auxiliary diode 22 to a regenerative auxiliary power source 21. The power source 21 is connected with the positive electrode of the power source 2. Similarly, a lower arm is connected through an auxiliary diode 23 to the negative electrode of the power source 2. Further, the power source 2 is connected through a reactor 14 to the switch 1. Thus, since it is operated by the vibration of the inductance, etc., of the circuit, it can be stably operated.
