PURPOSE:To maintain the balance of three color beams and to easily adjust the quantity of respective color beams by arranging filters for changing density continuously on an optical path through which original image light is led by an image forming lens and an optical mirror group and forming a density changing means for the filters. CONSTITUTION:The filters 12A, 13A for changing density continuously and the density changing means (power supply) 39 for the filters 12A, 13A are arranged on the optical path through which original image light is led by an image forming lens and optical mirror group. Thereby, the transmissivity of the filters 12A, 13A in a color separating optical system of a color copying machine can be changed by simple operation. The brightness changing ratios of the filters 12A, 13A and that of an exposure lamp are controlled by a control means (liquid crystal filter power supply) so that both the values are approximately the same. Consequently, the destruction of color balance due to the adjustment of light can be suppressed at its minimum.
