PURPOSE:To increase S-N ratio during reproduction with a recording medium contg. a dye as a recording material and to improve the durability by forming the recording layer with a dye having at least one chromophore selected among a chromophore contg. an amidinium ion, a chromophore contg. a carboxyl ion and a chromophore contg. bipolar amide and a silver salt soluble in an org. solvent. CONSTITUTION:The recording layer of an information recording medium is formed with a dye having at least one chromophore selected among a chromophore contg. an amidinium ion, a chromophore contg. a carboxyl ion and a chromophore contg. bipolar amide and a silver salt soluble in an org. solvent. The silver salt may be incorporated into a layer adjacent to the recording layer so that the salt is brought into contact with the dye. Silver ions coordinate with the dye in the recording layer or on the interface between the recording layer and a layer adjacent to the recording layer, so the peak reflection wavelength of the dye is shifted to about 800nm on the longer wavelength side and overlaps with the oscillation wavelength of semiconductor laser. Accordingly, the reflectance of the recording layer can be increased and information can be read out from the recording medium in a high S-N ratio during reproduction. |
