PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for a liquid penetrant coating operation in the case of deciding working flaws at every working step in a liquid penetrant flaw detection method for detecting the flaws on a work surface by using a liquid penetrant for flaw detection contg. a solidifying component as said liquid penetrant. CONSTITUTION:The work 1 is first cleaned to remove the fats and oils in the working flaws 2 prior to detection of the presence or absence of the working flaws by interrupting the working of the work. The liquid penetrant 3 in which the solidifying component is previous incorporated is then coated on the surface of the work 1 and after the liquid penetrant 3 is penetrated into the flaws 2, the liquid is solidified. After the surface of the work 1 is cleaned, UV rays are projected to the surface so that the solidified liquid penetrant 3 remaining in the flaw 2 part emits light. The condition of the flaw 2 is thereby inspected. The recoating of the liquid penetrant on the work 1 surface as in the conventional method is not needed in the case of restarting the cutting operation and reinspecting the condition of the working flaws 2 on the work surface after cutting as the liquid penetrant 3 in the solidified state remains in the flaws without being flushed away by a cutting fluid.
