PURPOSE:To develop a heat-resisting composite material having superior mechanical strength at high temp., by coating the surface of refractory-metal fiber composed of a W wire, etc., doped with a specific material with Nb and by burying the above in a super alloy of Fe base, Ni base, Co base, and the like. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a heat-resisting metal fiber composed of a W wire of about 0.3mm diameter doped with any of ThO2, K, Si, and Al by about 1% is coated with Nb to 0.05mm thickness by a plasma thermal spraying method, and the like. In a similar manner as above, the above surface is further coated with Fe, Cr, Al, and Y alloys to 0.2mm thickness to be formed into a W/Nb/FeCrAlY sheet. Subsequently, plural sheets of the above are piled one on top of the other and an Fe-base brazing filler metal is put between the above to undergo lamination, which is heated at 1,100 deg.C for about 15min in an H2-gas atmosphere so as to be formed into a composite material composed of the super alloy of Fe base, etc., containing Nb-coated W fiber by about 30vol%. In this way, the heat-resisting composite material excellent in mechani cal strength at high temp., minimal in deformation due to repeated thermal load, and suitable for material for gas turbine, etc., can be obtained.
