PURPOSE:To produce the titled compound in high efficiency, by contacting a microbial strain such as Corynebacterium genus, etc., with a mixture of cis and trans-1,4-bis(aminomethyl)-cyclohexanes, thereby oxidizing only the trans- isomer. CONSTITUTION:A microbial strain belonging to Corynebacterium genus or Nocardia genus e.g. Corynebacterium nitrilophilus, Nocardia tartaricams, etc., is made to contact with an mixture of cis- and trans-1,4-bis(aminomethyl)- cyclohexanes. The microorganism is the cell of proliferation period, cell of resting stage, immobilized cell or extracted cell. After the reaction, the objective trans-4-aminomethylcyclohexane-1-carboxylic acid is separated and purified by activated carbon treatment, ion exchange treatment, etc.
