PURPOSE:To decrease the contact resistance between a solid electrolyte and a negative electrode to decrease the internal resistance of a battery and to improve the performance of the battery by placing a negative electrode comprising alkali metal or alkali metal alloy on one side of a polymer solid electrolyte which is alkali ion conductive, and heating them at the temperature of the softening point or more of the solid electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:A negative electrode comprising alkali metal or alkali metal alloy is placed on one side of a polymer solid electrolyte which is alkali ion conductive, and they are heated at the temperature of the softening point or more of the solid electrolyte. The solid electrolyte is softened and made fluid by the heat treatment, and a gap between the solid electrolyte and the electrode is filled with the fluid solid electrolyte.Thereby, the actual contact area between the solid electrolyte and the electrode is increased and the contact resistance between them is decreased.
