PURPOSE:To fetch a sine wave signal of two channels always having exactly a phase difference of 90 deg., by providing two pieces of multi-gap heads, and adding or subtracting electrically or magnetically a two-phase signal outputted from each head. CONSTITUTION:The first multi-gap head A is constituted of a unit head A1 and A2, and the second multi-gap head B is constituted of a unit head B1 and B2. A coil LA1 of the unit head A1 and a coil LB1 of B1 are connected so that each output is added, and a coil LA2 of the unit head A2 and a coil LB2 are connected so that each output is subtracted. As a result, a phase difference thetabetween an output voltage e1 of a channel 1 and an output voltage e2 of a channel 2 is always maintained at 90 deg. irrespective of a phase difference alphabetween output voltages eA, eB of the first and the second multi-gap heads A, B.
