摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain an electrode having high corrosion resistance and high activity without using an expensive element by radiating a high-density energy beam on a corrosion-resistant metal of >=1 kind among Ti, Zr, Nb, and Ta to melt the metal, quenching the metal, and then applying surface activating treatment to the metal. CONSTITUTION:The corrosion-resistant metal of >=1 kind among Ti, Zr, Na, Ta or the clad material of the corrosion-resistant metal and another corrosion-resistant metal or the corrosion metal further coated with one kind among Ru, Rh, Pd, Ir, and Pt and >=1 kind among Ni and Co is coated. A high-density energy beam is radiated on the metal at <=5,000 joule/cm<2> irradiation energy density and at <=5-10<-3>sec melting time to melt the metal, and then the metal is quenched to solidify the surface, at this time, controlled the thickness of the molten metal layer to <=150mum. The metal is dipped in an etching soln. preferentially dissolving Ni, Co, Ti, Zr, Nb, and Ta to concentrate the Pt-family metal responsible for electrode activity on the surface as well as to increase the effective surface area. By this method, the surface-activating surface alloy having high corrosion resistance and high catalytic activity can be formed on a crystalline metal.
