PURPOSE:To quickly and easily seek a desired picture recording scene with simple operation by applying key operation so as to switch a device into a high speed reproducing mode when fast forewarding or rewinding is executed. CONSTITUTION:In depressing a reproduction key 1 when the input port (b) of the sequence control section 9 is at an H level by the depression of the fast foreward key 2, an output of an AND gate 16 goes to an H level and an input port (g) goes also to an H level. When both the input ports (b), (g) go to H level, the fast foreward display mode is attained and the tape speed and the drum rotary speed are controlled to give easy to see picture, e.g., 30 times of tape speed by a drive circuit 10 and the signal processing circuit 11 is switched into the state outputting a video signal from a terminal 19b by using a reproducing signal from a reproducing head 12 and the picture display which is easy to seek the desired video recording scene is obtained. Similarly, in depressing the reproducing key 1 after the rewinding key 3 is depressed, the rewinding display mode is switched.
