NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I or formula II (R<1>-R<5> are 1-4C alkyl; R<6> and R<7> are H or 1-4C alkyl; j is 0, 1 or 2; k is 0 or 1; l, m and n are 0-3). EXAMPLE:1-(3-Perhydroacenaphthyl)-1-cyclohexylethane. USE:A fluid for traction drive. It has relatively low viscosity and high traction coefficient at high temperature. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced e.g. by reacting acenaphthene or its derivative with styrene or its derivative in the presence of an acid catalyst and subjecting the resultant acenaphthylarylalkane or its derivative to catalytic reduction with H2 gas in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst supporting a metal such as Pd, Pt, Ni. |
