PURPOSE:To obtain a preventive and remedy for cerebral ischemia having excellent alleviating action on cerebral ischemia and anti-low oxygen action, containing a glutathione monoalkyl ester or a salt thereof. CONSTITUTION:A preventive and remedy for cerebral ischemia containing a glutathione monoalkyl ester shown by the formula (R is alkyl) or a salt thereof as an active ingredient. A dose of the compound is usually 10-600mg per adult daily by intravenous injection.
