NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I {R<1> is formula II-IV [R<3> is lower alkyl; R<4> is (protected)amino], etc.; R<2> is (protected)carboxy; A is (substituted)lower alkylene, etc.} and salts thereof. EXAMPLE:Benzhydryl-7-[ N-tert-butoxycarbonyl-2-( 3-methanesulfonamidophenyl )- D-glycinamido]-3-vinyl-3-cephem-4-carboxylate. USE:An antimicrobials agent against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria useful as an oral administration agent. PREPARATION:A compound expressed by formula V, reactive derivative or salts thereof are reacted with a compound expressed by the formula R<1>-A-COOH, reactive derivative or salts thereof to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I. Furthermore, the starting raw material expressed by formula V is a novel substance.
