In order to actuate a strain sensor 2 with a view to its calibration, with the sensitive head 8 of the sensor 2 housed in the countersunk hole 6 of a body 3, the sensitive face 9 of the head 8 is subjected to the pressure P of the fluid 12, either directly or indirectly via a membrane 4', the said pressure P being adjustable to the set-point calibration values. The device for employing the invention comprises a bell container 113 comprising at least one cavity 114 for pressurising the sensitive face 9 of the head 8, or of the membrane 4', means 118 and 120 to 123 for supplying the cavity 114 with fluid 12, under a pressure P which is adjustable to the set-point calibration values, means 124, 125 for preventing overpressurisation of the bell container 113, and means 130 to 141 for fastening the said bell container. <IMAGE>
