PURPOSE:To provide a traveling controller with higher safety by automatically judging the degree of a curve with a G sensor to return to a manually mode after a vehicle speed is reduced to the safe traveling speed when the lateral acceleration G falls within a certain dangerous region. CONSTITUTION:An acceleration detector (hereinafter called G sensor) 24 for detecting the lateral acceleration of a vehicle as a judging means for detecting a curved road is connected to an input port 41 of a microcomputer control unit 31. Also, a brake controller 34 is newly connected to an output port. Thus, when the detecting value of G sensor exceeds a first reference value, the vehicle is judged to be on the curved road and the vehicle speed at that time is set to a desired speed for constant speed traveling control. Next, when the vehicle speed exceeds a second reference value larger than the first one, brake pressure is proportionally controlled between the lowest and the highest brake pressure according to the lateral acceleration G by a brake controller 34 for deceleration traveling control. And the vehicle speed is reduced to the safe one and then set to a manual mode.
