PURPOSE:To rapidly judge the propriety of installing state of a floppy disk by judging as abnormal installation when proper data is not read out from at least one specified track of plural specified tracks of the installed floppy disk. CONSTITUTION:In a central processing unit 1, a disk existence decision means 4 decides whether or not the floppy disk is installed in an FDD (floppy disk driving) device 2 according to a state alteration signal from the FDD device 2 or ON of a power source. When the decision means 4 decides the installation of the floppy disk, a data reading means 5 reads out the each proper data in the plural specified tracks of the floppy disk. At this time, if the proper data is not read out from at least one specified track, an installation error output means 6 decides as the floppy disk is abnormally installed and sets it as an error. Thus, whether or not the floppy disk is normally installed in the FDD device 2 is rapidly decided.
