The propulsion device comprises, carried by the vehicle, at least two heavy rotary bodies 20, 21 and means 2-12 for driving each of the rotary bodies in a reciprocating rotational movement over an angular travel which is less than 360 DEG about an axis which does not pass through its centre of gravity, this movement producing a centrifugal force F1, F2, the movements of the rotary bodies being synchronised so that the resultant R of the centrifugal forces generated by the said movements has a substantially constant orientation. <IMAGE>
