The tunable antenna (20) has a resonant circuit (31). Its dimensions can be varied by means of a slide (22) which has a lateral connection (27). For this purpose, the lateral connection is passed via conductors (23.1, 23.2) which are routed at a distance from one another. At least in regions, the conductors (23.1, 23.2) are designed to converge (A2<-A1) in the direction of resonance for shorter wavelengths. Their cross-section reduces in a corresponding manner in the direction of convergence in order to maintain the desired characteristic impedance in the respective tuning band. In consequence, the adjustable wavelength band can be considerably enlarged and, in particular, the adjustment accuracy for short wavelengths can be considerably improved. A multiplicity of auxiliary measures and auxiliary devices as well as peripheral devices and measures matched to scientific experimentation purposes are described and drawn. <IMAGE>
