PURPOSE:To eliminate a smear sweeping out action by providing the titled device with a transmission part to transmit charges, an accumulation part, and a switch part to connect an electrode to drive a light receiving part and that to drive the accumulation part for a prescribed period but to disconnect them at times other than said prescribed time. CONSTITUTION:A pulse phiPT is impressed to a read gate during a period t1 and signal charges are read out then during a period t2, a contact pulse phiC comes in a high level to connect the accumulation part 4 and the transmission part 3 by a switch part 6, and the signal charges are transmitted to the accumulation part 4 by transmittal pulses phiV1, phiV2. Thereafter, during a period t3, the transmission part 3 is disconnected from the part 4, so that the accumulation part 4 only is sequentially driven to accommodate a television system to read out signals.
