The object of the invention is to provide an inexpensive electrically activated lock which can be exchanged for conventional standard locks and which requires such low electrical power that it can be fed by means of a dry battery. This object is achieved in that the lock follower receives a knife-edge lever which, in the state of rest, presses an armature up against the yoke of an electromagnet via a spring-loaded control lever. When the door handle is actuated and the magnet energised, the knife edge of the lever runs past a stop pin; when the magnet is not energised, the control lever pivots round and the knife edge runs up against the stop pin. <IMAGE>
