<p>Oil extraction process for treatment of oil-contg. fruit pump of oil palms reduces oil losses, and can also be applied to the treatment of animal fatty materials, esp. fish. The fruits are fragmented in a mixer with steam and the resulting material is fed to an endless, open-work belt which transports it to a press for sepn. of the oil. The solid residue leaving the press is sent to a plant for the recovery of the nuts or the kernel oil. The liq. or turbid juice is pumped back over the material on the endless band through which it filters to receivers beneath the band. The juice is enriched at each passage through the filter bed and a clear juice, rich in oil, is obtd. which i ssent to a plant for carifying and isolating the oil. The liq. phase is enriched in oil and its content of solid matter and sand is reduced by the use of the mixed material on the conveyor as a filter bed; the number of clarification operations can be reduced and the plant simplified.</p> |
