PURPOSE:To obtain the fault information of a space-division switch by comparing output information obtained from the output line of a second switch with the output of a signal disconnection detecting circuit on the corresponding output line of the space-division type switch by a fault discriminating part. CONSTITUTION:The second switch 11 is provided which has input/output lines assigned to respective the input/output lines of a space-division switch 1 as the object of fault detection in 1:1 and receives the outputs of signal disconnecting detecting circuits 2 and 2', which are provided on the input lines of the space-division switch 1, by corresponding input lines. The second switch 11 is controlled to the same bus connection state as the space-division switch 1 by a control part 7, and the outputs of signal disconnecting detecting circuits 2 and 2' on the input lines of the space-division switch 1 are inputted to the corresponding input lines of the second switch 11. In this case, output information obtained from output lines of the second switch 11 is compared with the output of the signal disconnecting detecting circuit 2 corresponding to the output lines of the space-division switch 1 by a fault discriminating part 8. Thus, the fault information of the space-division switch is obtained.
