The invention relates to a device for extracting an optical signal from optical waveguides (LWL), in which a longitudinal section of the optical waveguide can be laid and bent between two deformation elements which are positioned against one another, and into a channel in one of the deformation elements. A high proportion of the extracted light power can be received by a photodetector by at least two successive bending points being present in the channel (5), by the channel (5) which is formed in one of the deformation elements (4) being closed by a cover face of the other deformation element (2) and being filled with an immersion fluid whose refractive index is greater than that of the deformation elements (2, 4), and by an optical outlet for the optical signal being present at one end of the channel (5).
