In coating a substrate by applying a 2-component polyurethane enamel and baking, the coating material is treated with a flow aid (I) and a complete dehydrating agent (II) before baking. Pref. the enamel is applied in an airless high pressure spray plant without oil vapour, without water particles and without addn. of air, with constant stirring. The coating is applied at 20-30 deg. C, then transferred to the baking plant, heated to 60 deg. C in max. 45 min. baked for 4 h at this temp. Pref. compsn. contains 0.05-0.15 wt.% silicone oil and 0.5-1.5 wt.% 'Byketol' (RTM) as (I) and 1.5-2.5 wt.% monoisocyanate and 0.5-1.5 wt.% formate ester as (II). The enamel may also contain noble or base metal particles, pigments or ethylene glycol acetate. |
