PURPOSE:To provide an improved kerosene free from the occurrence of odor during handling and when ignited and extinguished and causing no air pollution attributed to a combustion gas, which comprises an n-paraffin and/or an iso- paraffin having a particular number of carbon atoms. CONSTITUTION:99wt% or more component (A) comprising a 7-17 C n-paraffin (a) contg. 50wt% or more 9-15 C n-paraffin (e.g., n-heptane), a 7-19 C iso- paraffin (b) contg. 50wt% or more 9-17 C iso-paraffin (e.g., 2,2,4- tetramethylpentane), or a mixture of components (a) and (b) in a component (a) to component (b) weight ratio of 1-99:99:1, preferably 30-1:70-99 is optionally mixed with 0.1-300mg/l of an antioxidant (B) (e.g., 2,4-di-tert-butylphenol) to prepare an improved kerosene having a smoke point of 30mm or more.
