PURPOSE:To accurately measure the position of the flaw in a body to be inspected, by making the width of ultrasonic beam transmitted regardless of a deflection angle equal to each other. CONSTITUTION:The number-of-element set value n1 at the set values theta1, theta2 of the deflection angle of ultrasonic beam is inputted from an input circuit 8 and the effective aperture D1 of the set value theta1 of the deflection angle and the number of transmitting elements at the set value theta2 of the deflection angle are operated from a set value signal S in an operation circuit 7. These operation data A are outputted to a change- over control circuit 6 and the change-over pattern signal C of a change-over circuit 5 is outputted on the basis of the data A from the circuit 6. The circuit 5 receives the signal C to change over the elements of an array probe and the high voltage pulse P from a transmitting circuit 1 is applied to the array probe through the circuit 5. The signals U1-Un received by the array probe are added and amplified by a receiving circuit 2 to become an ultrasonic signal U. The propagation time between the transmitting wave and flaw reflected wave in the signal U is measured by a signal processing circuit 3 to measure the position of a flaw. On the basis of this measured value, a display signal D is outputted to a wave form display device 4 and the position of the flaw is displayed on the basis of the signal D. |
