PURPOSE:To accurately and easily detect which part in a hardware circuit relating to an I/O equipment is abnormal within a short period by specifying any one of output ports at the time of setting up a self-diagnosis mode and writing optional data in the output port. CONSTITUTION:In an electronic equipment constituted by connecting plural I/O ports C to a CPU A through a data bus line B, the self-diagnosis working mode is set up by a self-diagnosis mode setting means D, any one of the output ports is specified by a port specifying means E at the time of setting up the self-diagnosis mode and optional data are written in the specified output port by a data writing means F. Thus, whether abnormality is generated in the output port or not can be decided by writing optional data in a required output port and detecting output data from the output concerned.
