PURPOSE:To directly connect a connection medium to an optical fiber and to miniaturize a controller by constituting the working parts of a polarizer and an analyzer in an optical controller integrally with a magnetic optical layer. CONSTITUTION:Metal thin films 1 with a prescribed thickness and and magneto- optical layers 2 with a prescribed thickness are repeatedly laminated on the controller using a magneto-optical element to form a laminated body. A magnetic field H is impressed from a magnetic field impressing mechanism in the optical axis direction 4 of the laminated body 3. Laser beam from a laser are made incident upon to the optical axis 4 of the laminated body 3 directly or through an optical fiber 5. The level and direction of the magnetic field H to be impressed are controlled by the magnetic field impressing mechanism through a connection medium and the magnetization M of the magneto-optical layer 2 is controlled. the laminated body 3 is formed as a laminate body laminating the metallic thin film 1 and magneto-optical layers 2, the laminated body 3 is made in a plane or twisted state and the optical controller is miniaturized.
