<p>PURPOSE:To improve acceleration response and fuel consumption by adjusting transmission gear ratio based on the curve of the optimum fuel cost ratio when continuously variable transmission is selected according to the engine load, and by deciding transmission gear ration according to the engine driving state when stage transmission is selected. CONSTITUTION:A mode selecting means A for selecting either of a non-stage transmission mode or a stage transmission mode based on the engine load is provided. And in case where the engine load is less than the prescribed value and the continuous variable transmission mode is selected, transmission gear ratio of a continuous variable transmission D is adjusted by the first controlling means B so that an engine is operated on the curve of the optimum fuel cost. On the other hand, in case where the engine load is more than the prescribed value and a stage transmission mode is selected, either one of a plurality of kinds of transmission gear ratio which have been set in advance is decided based on the engine load and car speed, and it is controlled that the transmission gear ratio of the continuous variable transmission D is maintained at the decided transmission gear ratio.</p> |
