PURPOSE:To enable the adjustment to the prescribed temp. in a very short time by circulating gas having the prescribed temp. in a bypass circuit route before starting temp. adjustment and then starting the temp. adjustment by blowing this gas from a nozzle. CONSTITUTION:The metal strip S is passed through in a temp. adjusting furnace 1 of a continuous annealing equipment and the gas is blown by fans 7 from nozzles 3 in a plenum chamber 2 through connecting ducts 6, gas temp. adjustors 8 blowing ducts 4, to adjust the temp. of the above metal strip S. By the above temp. adjusting method, preceding the start of temp. adjustment, the dampers 10, 11 are closed and the gas of the prescribed temp. is circulated in the bypass ducts 9, which do not pass through the temp. adjusting furnace 1. At the time of starting the temp. adjusting of metal strip S, the above dampers 10, 11 are opened and the gas of the above prescribed temp. are blown onto both faces of metal strip S from the nozzles 3. In this way, the temp. of metal strip S can be adjusted in a very short time. As a result, the quality deterioration caused by insufficient annealing at the joints of metal strip is prevented.
