PURPOSE:To discriminate whether the parity error is caused during data transfer or by a parity generating circuit itself, by checking parities outputted from parity generating circuits in the transmission side and the reception side. CONSTITUTION:Transfer data outputted from a transmission part 11 is transferred to a reception part 21 together with the vertical parity generated by a transmission-side error detecting part 12. The detecting part 12 checks this parity at this time, and an error signal 140 is sent to the transmission part 11 and the reception part 21 if error is detected. Meanwhile, transferred data and vertical parity are inputted to a reception-side error detecting part 22 also, and the vertical parity of transfer data is generated and is checked, and an error signal 240 is sent to the transmission part 11 and the reception part 21 if error is detected. If this parity does not coincide with the vertical parity sent from a transmission equipment 10, a disaccord signal 250 is outputted to the transmission part 11 and the reception part 21.
