1341596 Substituted uretidine-2,4-diones BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 27 May 1971 [4 June 1970] 17455/71 Heading C2C Novel uretidine-2,4-diones of the formula wherein R is (C 1 -C 4 ) alkyl and R<SP>1</SP> is p-chlorophenoxy, 2-benzothiazolyl or a radical of the formula wherein R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>3</SP> are hydrogen, halogen, (C 1 - C 4 ) alkyl, (C 1 -C 4 ) alkoxy, (C 1 -C 4 ) thioalkyl, haloalkylmesyl, cyano, N,N-dimethylsulphamoyl, 4<SP>1</SP>-chlorophenoxy, or R<SP>3</SP> is an alkylcarbamoyloxy radical of the formula wherein R<SP>4</SP> is hydrogen and R<SP>5</SP> is a (C 1 -C 9 ) aliphatic hydrocarbon radical optionally substituted by chlorine, bromine, phenyl, cyclohexyl, norbornyl, (C 1 -C 4 ) alkoxy, (C 1 -C 4 ) alkylthio, cyclohexylthio, phenylthio, benzylthio or (C 1 -C 4 ) alkoxycarbonyl, or R<SP>5</SP> is a cyclohexyl radical, any of the monocyclic radicals represented by R<SP>5</SP> optionally being substituted by one or two methyl groups, or, if saturated, optionally being bridged by a methylene radical, may be prepared by reacting an allophanyl chloride with an acid binding agent. The allophanyl chloride is suitably obtained by reacting an NN<SP>1</SP>-disubstituted urea with phosgene. The novel compounds possess herbicidal properties. |
