摘要 PURPOSE:To produce a tryptophan derivative, by bringing a fluorine-containing compound into contact with a culture fluid, microbial cell or treated microbial cell of a microorganism having the ability to produce tryptophan synthetase. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism having the ability to produce tryptophan synthetase, preferably microorganism of the genus Escherichia is cultivated in a culture medium containing a carbon source, nitrogen source and inorganic salt, preferably at pH 5-9 and 20-40 deg.C. A fluorine-containing tryptophan expressed by formula II is produced by using any of methods for adding a fluorine-containing compound expressed by formula I (m and n are integers of 0-4; m + n is an integer of 1-4; x and y are integers satisfying x + y = 3) to the culture medium in cultivating the above-mentioned microorganism, bringing the compound expressed by formula I into contact with the cultivated and separated microorganism or bringing the compound expressed by formula I into contact with an enzyme-containing treated solution of the separated microorganism. Serine is preferably present in the methods and reaction is preferably carried out in a mixture solution at 0.5-1 ratio of the toluene layer to the aqueous layer in the latter two methods.
