DETERMINATION OF N-ACETYLMANNOSAMINE AND KIT THEREFOR

PURPOSE:To determine the titled compound useful for diagnosis of inflammation, etc., with a high accuracy in simple operation, by reacting an N- acetylmannosamine-containing sample with N-acetylmannosamine dehydrogenase and measuring the resultant reduced form nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH). CONSTITUTION:N-Acetylmannosamine dehydrogenase is reacted with an N- acetylmannosamine-containing sample in the presence of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) to produce reduced form nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH), which is measured by absorbance thereof at 340nm wavelength. The concentration is then obtained from a calibration curve prepared by measuring N-acetylmannosamine solutions in known concentrations by the similar method to determine the N-acetylmannosamine in the sample.
