PURPOSE:To efficiently correct contents of a knowledge base by providing an editing program with a function which corrects information accompanied with rules also in case of correction of rules in the knowledge base. CONSTITUTION:The knowledge of a specialist is stored as rules in a knowledge base 2, and a pertinent rule is used in accordance with user's input from a terminal 1 to execute inference by an inference program 3, and the process and the result of this inference are stored in a work area 4. In case rules in the knowledge base 2 are corrected for the purpose of enriching the knowledge base 2, an editing program 5 is used to correct rules while making conversation with the user. At this time, the editing program 5 corrects information accompanied with rules (comments or the like added to rules) together with rules. Consequently, it is unnecessary to correct comments or the like after correction of rules, and correction is efficiently performed.
