PURPOSE:To obtain the titled low-cost medium substance, having air permeability, water holding properties, natural lighting as well as heat insulating properties and suitable as a culture medium for cultivating various germs, by blending a grain wastage with starch and water and pelletizing the resultant blend into a spongy form. CONSTITUTION:Wheat brain is preferably used as a grain wastage and 15% wheat flour and 80% water are blended with 1 (1002) wheat brain. The obtained blend is pelletized into a spongy form and afford the aimed medium substance.
