PURPOSE:To control the thickness of powder film to the suitable thickness by measuring temp. of molten steel in a mold for continuous casting, assuming the thickness of powder film by this temp. difference and adjusting the number of vibration giving to the mold. CONSTITUTION:The molten steel in a tundish 1 is poured into the for continuous casting by a submerged nozzle 2 and the powder for lubrication is added on the surface to insert into gap between the inner wall of mold and solidified shell of molten steel, and also the vibration is given to the mold 3 by oscillation mechanism 4, to prevent the burning between the inner wall of mold and the solidified shell. In this case, the molten steel temp. is measured by thermocouple 5 burried in the submerged nozzle 2 and the mold temp. is measured by thermocouple 6 burried in the mold 3 and these informations are inputted to a powder film thickness assumption device 7 to assume the thickness of powder-film and also operate the oscillation cycle correction value. This value is compared with the setting value of a oscillation cycle setter 9 and the compared value is inputted to the oscillation motor velocity controller 9 and the number of vibrations for the mold 3 is controlled by this output, to hold always them thickness of powder film to constant.
