PURPOSE:To improve the dehydration efficiency and to perform energy-saving by charging high molecular compound gels reversibly changing from a hydrophilic property to a hydrophobic property by temp. change in a storage box, passing a steel strip through the box, and bring the strip in contact with the gels. CONSTITUTION:Plural sets of high molecular compound gel storage boxes are installed in a passing region of a steel strip 1 and many spherical high molecular gels 5 are charged in the boxes 4 with proper spaces remaining in the box 4. The temp. of the strip 1 is set to a temp. in the temp. range where the gels 5 show a hydrophilic property; at the time of passing the strip 1, the gels 5 start water absorption and increase their weight and volume themselves. At the time when a weight sensor detects a prescribed weight, a bottom plate 7 of the boxes 4 opens to introduce the gels 5 into a warm bath holding a hydrophobic temp. to remove their moisture content. The gels 5 are circulated to repeate water absorption and dehydration. The dehydration efficiency is improved and the energy-saving is performed because use of waste heat and exhaust gas is performable.
