PURPOSE:To improve the measuring or detecting accuracy of the coordinate of a peak without increasing a memory, by using a bit of information representing to which coordinate consisting of a discrete value and how much nearer a sample is positioned, and adding the number of times of observation on the coordinate consisting of the discrete value as a variable. CONSTITUTION:The samples Q(q1,..., qi,..., qn) having n-dimensional coordinates can be found as continuous values like real number values such as the parameters (thetaij, rhoij) of a straight line and the parameters (xcijk, ycijk, rijk) of a circle like in a Hough transformation. When the sample Q is observed by using the coordinate consisting of the discrete value like an integer value, the information representing to which coordinate consisting of the discrete value and how much nearer the sample Q is positioned can be obtained from a distance. Then, by adding the number of times observation on which a weight based on the distance is attached on the dividing points of 2<n> in the neighborhood of the sample Q, it is possible to detect the peak of distribution with high accuracy without reducing a division interval.
