PURPOSE:To prevent light from being cut off by dirt and dust and attenuated owing to variations in humidity and temperature, etc., by providing a 1st coupling member which is connected electrically with terminals of a photoelectric converting element and a 2nd coupling member which are connected electrically with a transmission or reception part, and connecting and disconnecting the 1st and 2nd coupling members. CONSTITUTION:When a contact plug 10 is inserted into a receptacle 30, contact pins 18, 18... are inserted into female contacts 33, 33... respectively and thus the contact plug 10 and receptacle 30 are connected electrically with each other. Then an optical signal transmitted by an optical fiber 2b is converted by a photodiode 17 into an electrical signal, which is supplied to a transmission and reception part through the contact pins 18 and female contacts 33. The connector plug 10 is disconnected from the receptacle 30 and connected to another receptacle 30 electrically while an LED 16 and the photodiode 17, and optical fibers 2a and 2b are still connected optically in the connector plug 10. Consequently, neither dirt nor dust enters the optical connection part. |
