<p>A print control system in a printer, an input device for introducing a print instruction into the print control system, a printing mechanism for printing onto a record-receiving medium, a feed mechanism for shifting the medium through the printing mechanism in a predetermined direction for a predetermined distance before and after the printing operation, a print repetition control circuit which enables a predetermined number of successive printing operations by the printing mechanism upon completion of each printing operation, and a control circuit, responsive to the input device, for controlling the printing mechanism and the feed mechanism. The feed mechanism includes a drive roller for engaging and shifting the record-receiving medium through the printing mechanism, the drive roller being rotated only before and after each successive printing operation and being held stationary during each printing operation. A pinch roller opposes the drive roller and a shaft positioned through the axis of the pinch roller allows the pinch roller to rotate freely therearound. A solenoid has a reciprocally movable rod and a rotatable arm engaged with the shaft the movable solenoid rod, is selectively activated by the control circuit to position the pinch roller in contact with the record-receiving medium during the printing operation.</p> |
