PURPOSE:To normally display a character at special reproduction by inputting a luminance signal subjected to dropout compensation to a synchronizing separator circuit at special reproduction and inputting a luminance signal not subjected to the dropout compensation to a mixing circuit. CONSTITUTION:The output signal of a dropout compensation circuit 8 is inputted to the mixing circuit 13 at normal reproduction (normal), and a switch 20 to which the output signal of a demodulator circuit 6 through a de-emphasis circuit 7 is inputted to the circuit 13 at special reproduction (at trick) is provided and the luminance signal subjected to the dropout compensation is inputted to a synchronizing separation circuit 15 by the circuit 8. By such a constitution, when the noise is within the range of compensation of the dropout compensation circuit 15, the horizontal synchronizing signal is not lost, the synchronizing separation circuit outputs the vertical synchronizing signal and the horizontal synchronizing signal normally and the character produced by the synchronizing signals is displayed normally.
