PURPOSE:To prevent an abnormal noise from occurring, by clamping an inner shim to a recess part in the inner surface of a tip part of a valve lifter, and forming a notch is a side wall part of this inner shim. CONSTITUTION:A recess part 10 is installed in the central part of a tip part inner surface 7a of a valve lifter 5, and an inner shim 12 is clamped to this recess part 10. Plural notches 13 are formed in the side wall part of the disclike inner shim 12. Both ends 13a of the notch 13 are bitten into the side wall part of the recess part 10 and a caulked part 11, thereby preventing the inner shim 12 from rotating. With this constitution, any abnormal noise attributable to rotation of the inner shim is preventable from occurring.
